I made it up in my room

I have enjoyed knitting at the window these past weeks. The reason?
I heart the iris.

Moving on: there was this sock I was knitting, circ style.
She is finished.
Do you know how hard it is to try on your first knitted sock ever to make sure you're getting the right size with blisters the size of Kansas?

No, I won't subject you to those images. They hurt a lot, thus leading to lots of clog wearing this week. Leading to the concept that I need more colorful socks to wear with said clogs.

I am in love with this colorway. I love the red, the black, the fall-ish-ness of it all. I love the touches of gray every so often. And oh man, the sock. I am in love with this sock.

Is it true what they say? Will you really, upon placing the first handknit sock on your foot, decide that they are the only kind you ever want to wear again?

short version: yes.
long version: hell yes.

There will be no second sock syndrome here folks, at least, not this time. I want the mate to this chica like I want to be able to fly to the moon.
So like, a lot.

Even Zoƫ enjoyed the experience.

My other first (and on the same day, no less): my very own handspun yarn.

You want to talk about in love?
She's slubby as hell, I mean, there's a big patch that didn't spin like, at all
but it's perfectly balanced, the twist is wonderful, and the edges don't fray like I was afraid of.
I'm hooked on this spinning thing.

fun for the whole family

This weekend was a weekend of errand running and driving of various sorts. With a car full of fuel and the Hubs piloting, many disasters projects took shape.

First, the cats would not allow me near the compy
though they saw fit to shed all over my chair.

I dabbled in other arts and created these

which look like candy to me.

I started some lace

and promptly screwed it up.

I finished one burp cloth

and started another.

I started another bib (it's a sickness)

and am at the point of straps.

I began manufacturing various sizes of warshcloth

for showering purposes.

I continued on the bag

and do believe it's way too small.

And I present my first ever singles, on state of the art cardboard bobbins

which are much too twisty (the singles, not the tubes) but I think I've got it down now.
Five more pounds of sheep are en route as we speak. And the stitch n bitch was cool - others actually showed up, and we concocted this plan for a roadtrip of sorts.

And it's very, very hot.

Sending you cool thoughts,

the rachface

for the record

One pound of roving is a lot.

And the obligatory close up...

The drop spindle has arrived.

The madness has begun. I dub thee, Friday, for spinning.

On a side note, I have noticed that these locks of lamb bear a striking resemblance to certain cat toys of Kaylee's.

Let the amusement ensue.
So I'm off to learn how to spin in the great outdoors, as the weather is beautiful (for once) and the rain isn't here yet. No worries, I have very good company out here.

On a side note, I've discovered I can coast my car from the end of the neighborhood to the foot of my driveway. This is good to know, if you are like me and never stop to get gas, thus saving every last molecule so you can send the Hubs out later to complete this task.
