decisions decisions

Having completed as much of starsky as can be done at the moment without seaming or finding dpn's, ones thoughts turn to the concept of what comes next in knit land.

You may recall the swatch we started with a few weeks back in Swish Superwash, which is in reality a moderne baby blanket from the tome of knit geniuses Ann and Kay (who have a second book on their work-in-progress list-exciting!).

We're working on the fourth color now, a deepish blue, and I'm wondering if it would be best to find another color and hold this for the other blanket to be finished. I need some time to consider it.

Then, there's the second Jaywalker sock, the companion to the first.

She'll be casted on today and will serve as the small purse sized project that travels well outside the home.

And then there's the upcoming holiday one can't help but notice is already being decorated for in most stores-Christmas.
To tell the truth, my holiday crafting has never been overwhelming. I scrapbook and make cards, but I don't handmake Christmas cards because at that point I feel like I'm just breaking the craft down into an assembly line to get it done. I may or may not be odd in my view of each item I make a different creation.
It won't be difficult this year as a knitter and giving gifts. Long story short, the only people in family that appreciate my knitting are my in-laws and my grandma, and I'm not about to force items on people that don't want them.

So I'm thinking about a shawl for mom. I have been in love with the swallowtail shawl since the IK magazine hit the bookstore. I also have this merino laceweight in her favorite hue-deep burgandyish. And the knitalong inspires me.
So dad likes socks. Luckily for me, some knitting books have just arrived (via post!) authored by the one and only Nancy Bush.
So I think I will take this cloudy afternoon to peruse some sox related idears.
Oh, and grocery shop. Cus a girl's gotta eat.

Edits to add: the (hopefully) last of the starsky yarn has arrived just now. Not right now now. Then. Well, you missed it. But it's the same dye lot, so go go fates.
